Let me save you some time..... I tried this in my pickup at night out in the wide open fields to communicate with guys in tractors that have good working cb's with tuned 4' antennas. I would have been ecstatic if I got a 1 mile range and pleased enough to keep it if I got 1/4 to 1/2 mile range, unfortunately this is not the case. If you're looking for a radio to talk to the vehicle in front of you on the highway this will work. If you're looking for a range of more than 1/16 of a mile look elsewhere....but not at the...
ReplyDeleteGreat Handheld CB Radio. So-so Roadtrip Radio. Good Survival Radio with Conditions. I actually bought two of these. This radio is a good portable CB/Weather Radio. I like the 10 channel built-in weather radio. That part works well though the antenna is rudely mismatched to weather channels. You have to kind of grip the antenna and move your hand up and down the shaft to tune it to get a solid signal. Sounds salacious? It is. I don't recommend doing this in public.As a CB radio it does work well for a compact package. The magnetic mount antenna leaves about 99...
ReplyDeletePiece of junk I'm very disappointed in this radio. We didn't get very good reception with it and was not able to get other radio operators to respond to us even on the interstate. I got disgusted with fooling with it and left it in my truck console for a few months. All of a sudden it would only work on battery power and not with the cigarette lighter power cord. Also, we no longer get any reception on any channel. In other words it went from barely working to completely broken after just sitting for a few...
